Posted by Dan on September 09, 2009 in The Voyage

A quarter century down and I know I've only scraped the surface. There are exceptions for every rule or “There are no Absolutes”. There is no black and white, only shades of grey. Your teachers are not infallible. Failure does not make you a failure. You are the master of yourself. You don’t have to follow all the rules. You can make your own rules. There is no substitute for experience. Your thoughts and experiences make

Downsizing For A Digital Nomad Life

Posted by Dan on August 08, 2009 in The Voyage

You're not your age.... You are not your hopes. ~Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club I don't need to live in a modern 2 bedroom unit at $250 a week. My second bedroom is full of things I don't use and don't need. Why did I buy a refrigerator that I can hardly ever fill and if I do most of the food in it will still go off before I get to use it? I guess the explanation is that these things happened befor

Business in a Backpack Review

Posted by Dan on August 08, 2009 in The Voyage

I know for readers of this blog being Location Independent Digital Nomads is something a lot of you are or aspire to be. Business in a Backpack by Darcie Connell and Adam Costa is a guide to using three different methods to achieve that lifestyle. You'll have noticed a new theme on the blog, I'm really happy with this one and I'm sure I'll be sticking with it, just have to decide on colors. I've also added my "Bucket List" to the site, it's growing, slowly. I'm not a huge fan of the name "bucket list", not because of its link to death or anything. Maybe it's the idea of keeping the things you most want to do in your life in a lowly bucket, I don't know but if you have any other suggestions let me know. I've recently purchased a MMO 'system' which includes personal mentorship by the author, I think that if I am going to be really succ

My Plan to Move to South East Asia

Posted by Dan on June 06, 2009 in The Voyage

My goal is to move overseas, initially to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam or outsider, the Philippines. I would like to spend 6 months to 1 year (possibly longer) living in each of these countries to start with, and travel through more of Asia during that time, eg; India, Nepal, China, Laos. After Asia I will travel to Central and South America and do the same there. That could keep me going for the next 10 years and even further so I only have vague goals beyond this.
