		<description>I&#039;m always amused when people say &quot;things are so bad in the world, we&#039;re going down the tubes.&quot; That&#039;s just a &#039;half-empty glass&#039; perspective. We&#039;re a lot better off than ancient Romans, middle-ages peasants, and even 19th century landowners (where women couldn&#039;t vote and slaves were legal).

I think it&#039;s the same with travel. If one is careful with belongings, areas of the city one walks about, and walking during &quot;safe&quot; times of day, most destinations are not as dangerous as people think. There&#039;s always SOME risk, including in your front yard back home!</description>

		<description>Wow - the photo looks like its from Vietnam. I was there at New Year and the advice to cross the road was &#039;just walk, the bikes/mopeds will ride around you&#039; - Great advice huh? Very very scary crossing the road, but it did work and they do go around you!</description>
