The lifestyle design world is growing fast and there are a bunch of interesting people around, Lives Less Ordinary is my way of celebrating the successes and aspirations of participants in this community. In this first episode I wanted to share with you some of the people who have crossed the line and become location independent

Currently they are back in the UK and planning for their first destination since the birth of their baby LIP Mali.
Christine Gilbert @almostfearless
Christine is one of the stories of a corporate high flier who left her job for a life of world travel. What I like most about her blog is the topics she chooses to write about and her concise approach, recently she wrote a great article about how your living overseas annoys people. You can find her blog at AlmostFearless.com.
Corbett Barr @freepursuits
Back from Mexico he is now road tripping around the US while running the fantastic FreePursuits.com a blog about lifestyle design, finding work/life balance and not delaying the things you most want to do with your life with the usual deferred life plan. Corbett’s blog if fast becoming to Lifestyle Design what Lea’s is to Location Independents.
Christian Skoda @nomad4ever
Christen has been nomading in Asia for years now, currently in the Philippines his previous haunts have included Bali, Goa and Phuket. His blog Nomad4Ever.com has been around for a long while and is full of great resources for people planning on living or retiring in South East Asia, including some very useful cost of living charts. Christian seems to be one of those mysterious Perpetual Travel types.
Matt Kepnes @nomadicmatt
Now with a successful ebook on making money from travel blogging and his popular NomadicMatt.com which is just one of his travel topic sites. Matt is currently in the US after living in Bangkok for almost a year. He his planning his next travels which will take him around the world again. His sites offer great practical advice for making your travel planning easier.
Chris Guillebeau @chrisguillebeau
It was only a year ago Chris launched his site The Art Of Nonconformity and he has quickly become one of the biggest and most respected bloggers around. While Chris doesn’t live abroad at the moment he still travels frequently in his quest to visit every country in the world. I highly recommend reading his stuff, especially his manifestos, great stuff and required reading in my book.
Sherry Ott @ottsworld
Author of OttsWorld.com Sherry shares her adventures of moving to Vietnam to teach English and the daily ins and outs of what it is like for a foreigner to live in Ho Chi Minh City and usually with quite a bit of humor injected, although that is pretty much bound to happen for anyone living in a developing nation.
Kirsty Henderson @travoholic
Most recently in South America Kirsty is another scraping by on income from her websites, her upcoming travels include the US and South Africa. If you are interested to know just how little you can get by on she has recently posted a few good posts, look under “budget” and also check out her monthly earnings updates. Her blog is NerdyNomad.com
Chris @myeggnoodles
Finally a guy you might not have heard of, Chris blogs at MyEggNoodles.com. Previously in Thailand and now Based in Bali he is building quite a web empire which allows him to live the dream. He is definitely an entrepreneurial guy.
Anyone else noticed a pattern here? It seems if you want to live a life like these guys you’d do well to change your name, it should either start with the letter C or somehow include K/Chris or some such mixup.

Might be something to this theory of yours.
– Cherie & Chris, two full time technomadic location independent folks
Hi Dan! Thanks very much for including me. I’m very familiar with and fond of most of the folks you listed here, although there are a couple of new ones I’m headed to check out now. I like your new design and focus here at Voyagner, and enjoyed reading about your plan to move to Southeast Asia. Keep up the great stuff!
Awesome list of fellow LIP folks.. some that we haven’t found yet! Thank you.
We’ve been nomadic full time for just over 2 years now, and have been doing technical consulting work location independent the entire time. Currently, we’re traveling around the USA in a solar powered geeked out travel trailer, but do have intentions of setting off globally in the future.
